“Human Design gives honor and respect to our differences - to how we are designed to move and to make our decisions. It all comes back to implementing your own strategy and your own decision making authority. “

What is your offering?
I am a human design analyst and I do readings for people. I have been doing this for the last 17 years.

How did you find human design?
I feel like it found me! I'm a scientist by education with a degree in physics, math and computer science. I left the corporate world in 1999 and took a few years off decompressing. In 2006, I was visiting some friends on the island of Kauai and they told us about this new system called Human Design. I had my first reading then and it really had a strong effect on me. I saw the value immediately in my life and in my relationship at the time. I was so taken with it that within a few months I started my educational process, which was a many years experience through a prescribed series of courses, not dissimilar to getting a master’s degree.

What do you love about Human Design?
It helps people live the lives they're designed to live and helps them relate to other people in ways that I have not seen before.

Where did Human Design come from?
It was created a little over 30 years ago by Robert Krakower, a Canadian man who was living in Ibiza. It is what we call a channeled system because over a period of 6 or 7 days, he received the keys to Human Design in a download. He spent the next five years creating the system of Human Design based upon those keys, which draw from four ancient systems that he synthesized to create Human Design. He then changed his name to Ra Uru Hu. You can read about him at Jovianarchive.com

What are the four components?
Human Design is a synthesis of Astrology, the Chakra system, Kabbalah and the I Ching.

How is a reading different from astrology?
I feel that there's a certain level of complexity in Astrology that can be a barrier for most people. Also, Astrology can describe certain things about you, but then what do you do with that? I feel Human Design is an easy to understand, straightforward system that is applicable to one's life immediately. That to me is a huge difference.

What do you want clients to get from your readings?
When a client finishes a reading with me, which can usually take an hour to an hour and half, I want to make sure they know who they are from a perspective of their decision making strategy and how they are designed to move forward in their life and take actions.  Human Design has a practical element to it and also a certain kind of action oriented element to it. So I’m not just providing you information about who you are and how you work, but then also giving you the tools to actually align with those things on an everyday basis.

What are the different types of designs?
There are four types of individuals and each type has a certain strategy in life. Generators make up 70% of the population. These are the workers, the ones who are here to get things done because we have a defined sacral center. Generator strategy is to wait to respond. Pure Generators and Manifesting Generators are the two sub types of Generator that share this same strategy. Projectors are about 20% of the population. These are the natural born leaders, here to guide and teach others and their strategy is wait to be invited. There is the Manifestor, which is about 9% of the population. These people get inner guidance, and they just know what they want moment to moment from inside themselves. Lastly, is the Reflector, which is someone who has no centers defined. They are about 1% of the population, and their strategy is to wait the cycle of the moon.

How can Human design help us break patterns of conditioning?
We are all conditioned from the moment we're born. We are conditioned by hopefully well-meaning parents, relatives, schools, governments, religions and society. The conditioning is for us to be normal, and many times normal means the same. Human Design offers us the guidance that not everybody should be acting the same way, we should all be acting in the way according to our design. Human Design gives honor and respect to our differences - to how we are designed to move, to operate, to take our actions, and to make our decisions. It all comes back to implementing your own strategy and your own decision making authority.

How can connecting with your human design help others?
We are not lone rangers, we are social beings. We live in society with friends, families, and business associates. Where I see human design really shining is in terms of our ability to relate to others. It brings about a level of acceptance and awareness of how other people are different, but not in a way that's divisive, in a way that hopefully brings you closer together.

What are your personal practices?
One of the things that has really helped me on my journey is the practice of meditation. I found my spiritual teacher, Prem Rawat, or he found me, depending on how these things work over 50 years ago. This has centered me and given me a foundation, upon which everything else in my life stands. A second foundation in my life is my practice of yoga. I’ve had a regular consistent practice for many years. I joke that going to yoga classes is one of my addictions.

What are some things in your space that keep you grounded?
I have an altar with some crystals and some stones, as well as a Shiva and Shakti god and goddess. Around my neck I wear a Double Dorje, which has two meanings, the thunderbolt of enlightenment and the other is simultaneously everything and nothing. And I have two rings I always wear, one is a scarab that I got in Bali, it is a fire agate and the other is an ankh, an Egyptian symbol.

What's the best advice you've ever received?
Some of the best advice I got was from my father when I was a teenager. He knew nothing about Human Design, but he said “never make a decision until it’s time to make a decision or you have a “uh - huh”

Favorite words of wisdom?
“Worrying is praying for what you don’t want” and “don't believe everything you think.” This last one I saw the night that I met the woman who would become my longest relationship. She had a bumper sticker on the mirror in her bathroom which said “the universe rearranges itself according to your concept of reality.”
